Accenture: Then and now, and how it may signify things to come
The hype cycle for enterprise AI is starting to hit a very uncomfortable wall of reality.
I keep seeing these massive consulting firms promise a revolution, only for the numbers to tell a different story. Accenture’s recent stock performance isn’t just a “blip”—it feels like a symptom of a much larger issue. We are moving past the phase where simply “having” AI is enough to justify the investment. The ROI isn’t showing up in the way many and promised it would.
In my view, the gap between a cool demo and actual corporate productivity is wider than most leadership teams want to admit. It’s easy to talk about transformation; it’s much harder to integrate these tools into messy, legacy workflows without getting swallowed by technical debt or mediocre outputs. If we can’t move from “experimentation” to “measurable gain,” the current investment frenzy will eventually have to be re-evaluated.
We need to stop asking what AI could do and start being honest about what it is actually doing for the bottom line today.
Are you seeing these same gaps between the corporate promise of AI and the actual results in your own projects?
